Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the manufacture of a die possible easily with high accuracy by constituting the die of a die piece which is so designed that it can be fixed to a main die piece and a die piece to which a pin for forming a hole of a core to be inserted with an optical fiber core is supported and fixed. CONSTITUTION:A through-hole 15 to be inserted with a wire 16 for forming a microhole 4 for insertion of an optical fiber strand 2 is punched at the center of a die piece 14 in such a way that these are made concentrical with high accuracy. The piece 14 is fixed to a main die piece 11 by means of a screw 17. A pin hole 22 for forming a hole to be inserted with the core 2 which is located at the center of the cavity hole 12 when superposed on the end of the piece 11 is supported and fixed to the piece 21. The leading end part of the hole 22 has a plane or recessed surface, with which the leading end of the wire 16 is brought into contact. The wire 16 is fixed in this position by means of a lock screw 20 in the longitudinal direction. With such arrangement, no strictness is required for the off-centering of the pin 22 with respect to the hole 12 in the stage of attaching and detaching of the die piece 21 at every molding and therefore the die is manufactured easily with high accuracy.
