Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover simply and inexpensively uranium from a soln. contg. dissolved uranium by adjusting the soln. to a specified pH and bringing it into contact with iron oxide hydrate to capture uranium by adsorption.
CONSTITUTION: A soln. contg. dissolved uranium is adjusted to 2W9, preferably 3W6pH with an alkali agent such as NaOH or Na2CO3. This soln. is brought into contact with iron oxide hydrate to capture uranium by adsorption. As the iron oxide hydrate at least 1 kind of crystalline iron oxide hydrate selected from a group consisting of goethite, lepidocrosite and akagneite is preferably used, and the preferred specific surface area is ≥1, especially ≥10m2/g. The iron oxide hydrate having the captured uranium is separated from the treating soln. and brought into contact with ≥0.1, preferably 0.3W0.7mol/l alkali soln. such as sodium carbonate soln. to elute the captured uranium.
