Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a bumper from being deformed when the side parts thereof are secured, by forming elongate slots in a bumper main body or bumper stays such that the slots extend in combined directions of the thermo-deformation of the bumper main body and the side parts, and attaching the main body to the stays movably and relatively thereto. CONSTITUTION:The bumper side parts 11b are secured through brackets 12 to fenders 13a of the car body 13, and the bumper main body 11a is attached relatively movably to the bumper stays 15 by inserting stepped bolts 16 into the elongate slots 14. The elongate slots 14 extend in conformity with the combined directions of the expansion and constriction of the bumper main body 11a and the side parts 11b due to heat. Accordingly, if the bumper 11 is deformed by the heat of the atmosphere, the elongate slots 14 can move in the direction of the deformation, and as the stays 15 and the elongate slots can be moved relatively to each other, the deformation can be absorbed. Therefore, the bumper 11 can be prevented from being deformed.
