Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a drop of the response speed for a light receiving circuit, by applying a certain level of voltage to an APD via a gate circuit in case the optical input level is higher than a certain value. CONSTITUTION:The control voltage VC is applied to an APD11 of a light receiving circuit via a high voltage generating circuit 12. As the optical input level increases, the voltage VC lowers in order to decrease the increment factor of the APD11. Accordingly the output voltage of the circuit 12 also lowers, and at the same time the voltage VAPD which is applied to the APD11 also lowers. With the reduction of the voltage VAPD, the increment factor of the APD11 is fixed at 1. Then the response speed of the APD11 is reduced when the increment factor of the APD11 is less than a certain level Vmin. Thus a gate circuit 13 is opened at the level Vmin, and the Vmin is supplied from a constant voltage circuit. As a result, the voltage supplied to the APD11 does not lower less than Vmin to prevent the reduction of the response speed.
