Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily detect a rotating direction of a motor having an enclosed structure, by detecting the phase difference polarity of 2 detecting coils installed to a housing of an AC motor having an enclosed structure, by voltage, when detecting the rotating direction. CONSTITUTION:Detecting coils 1A, 1B are additionally provided on the housing of a motor M. In case when the motor is of 2 poles and 4 poles, when the center angle is arranged as 90 deg. and 45 deg., respectively, the detecting coils are 90 deg. out of phase from each other. Also, the polarity of this phase difference depends on the rotating direction of the motor. Internal resistance of the detecting coil and generated electromotive force are denoted as ri and vi, respectively, and 2 series circuits 2A, 2B consisting of resistances r1, r2 and capacitors c1, c2 are connected. In case of c1(ri+r1)=c2(ri+r2), when voltage V0 between both the circuits, that is to say, reading of an AC voltmeter (v) is v0=0 and v0=2E2, the rotating direction can be discriminated to be clockwise and counterclockwise, respectively.
