Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable measurement of a speed of a high-speed flying body by a method wherein a pipe guiding the flying body is extended into a measuring box, two through holes and projectors and light receivers are provided in each of the pipe and the measuring box, and thereby gas and smoke are prevented from turning round. CONSTITUTION:A pipe 9a guiding a flying body 8 is extended into a measuring box 10, and through holes 20, 21 and transmparent windows 22, 23 are provided at tow measuring parts (a) and (b) of each of the pipe 9a and the measuring box 10, in the radius direction thereof. Projectors 12, 13 projecting light beams 14, 15 into the through holes 20, 21 and light receivers 16, 17 are provided outside the measuring box 10. When the flying body 8 comes to the position of the through hole 20 in the measuring part (a) of the pipe 9a, the gas smoke accelerating and following the flying body 8 are prevented from turning round ahead of the flying body 8 by the wall surface of the pipe 9a, and when the flying body 8 passes the through hole 20, a part of the following gas and smoke is exhausted outside through the through hole 20.
