Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable search for the position of a traveling body in a short time by deflecting the receiver of the traveling body by an extremely small angle from an originating source and by measuring a direction angle between the traveling body and originating source and a distance to the originating source from a peak value of a received signal level.
CONSTITUTION: Receiver 3 in traveling body 1 can search originating source 2 for its direction and distance, and receiver 9 can search for the distance; both receivers 3 and 9 are installed at a prescribed interval. The coordinates of a traveling target spot are supplied to a controller on traveling body 1 to direct receiver 3 to originating source 2 whle controlling driving motor 27, etc., so that traveling body 1 will move toward its destination. Here, receiver 3 is deflected from originating source 2 by an extremely small angle at its destination point or adequate halfway point and from a peak value of a received signal level, a directional angle between traveling body 1 and originating source 2 and a distance to originating source 2 are measured to move the traveling body to the destination, so that the position search can be attained in a short time.
