Abstract
PURPOSE:To automatically and accuarately adjust the optical axis of a headlight by automatically turning an adjusting screw for determining the direction of the headlight according to a detection signal from a light receiving plate having a plurality of light receiving elements with the inputting of a data concerning the type of automobiles. CONSTITUTION:A light from a headlight is irradiated on a light receiving plate 1 and detection signals partaining to the quantity of light produced with individual light receiving elements 2 are transmitted to an arithmetic unit 5. On the other hand, data partaining to the type of automobiles are transmitted to an arithmetic unit 5 from an input unit 6 such as keyboard and a card reader. In addition, the height of the headlight and the distance between the headlight and the light receiving plate 1 are automatically measured with measuring devices 7 and 8 and the measured values are sent to the arithmetic unit 5. From the data inputted, the target optical axis position and an actual optical axis position are calculated with the arithmetic unit 5 to control a rotation device 9 so that the two position will coincide with each other whereby an adjusting screw for determining the direction of the headlight is automatically operated.
