Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to generate electric power on a small scale, by converting energy possessed by flowing water of a river or the like into energy of rotation by use of a water turbine. CONSTITUTION:A center turning shaft 1 is set in a river or the like to extend in a direction perpendicular to the water flow, and three more U-shaped frames 2 are fixed to the shaft 1 with uniform angular intervals. Further, a turning plate 3, which s pivotally moved around the axis of a vertical section 4 of the frame 2, is attached to each frame 2 for converting energy possessed by flowing water into energy of rotation. Here, since pressure of flowing water begins to act to the turning plate 3 at a position A, B, the turning shaft 1 is turned in a direction R shown in the drawing. At a point C, the turning plate 3 is turned 180 degrees around the vertical section 4 to a position shown by C, D in the drawing. When the turning shaft 1 is turned 180 degrees again, the plate 3 is returned to the original position A, B. Since the turning plates 3 in water repeat the above movement, energy possessed by flowing water can be converted efficiently into energy of rotation and imparted to the turning shaft 1 in so far as at least part of the turning plates is submerged in water.
