Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a simple apparatus, capable of driving a small power generating means through provision of a mechanism which can turn an endless belt having blades by the force of water flow.
CONSTITUTION: A float 1 is placed on the surface of a river, and an endless belt 4 having blades 5 disposed equidistantly over the entire peripheral surface of the belt 4 from a square hole 3 formed in the float 1 is also placed on the river in the manner that almost the lower half of the endless belt 4 is immersed in water. By the force of water flow, blades 5 are moved together with the endless belt 4 in the direction of water flow, so that a shaft 7 is turned by the movement of endless belt 4. Here, since the shaft 7 is connected to a chain wheel 11 of a generator 10 via a chain 12, rotation of the shaft 7 causes rotation of the generator 10. Since the above power generating apparatus can be installed with ease on any typical river, it is enabled to lower the installation cost.
