Abstract

PURPOSE:To process a cylinder bore so that it forms an exact circle at its assembly by fitting on a cylinder block a jig with rigidity equivalent to that of a cylinder head by means of bolts and giving the final processing on the cylinder bore in the condition that the same deformation is given as at assembly. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder block 1 is provided with holes 2 to turn cylinder bores, in a casting condition. A jig 3 with rigidity equivalent to that of a cylinder head is provided, at positions corresponding to the cylinder bores, with holes 4 which are slightly larger than a finished bore. A jig 3 is fastened tightly on a cylinder head fitting face of the cylinder block 1 by means of bolts 5 and a cutter, honing grinder and the like are inserted from holes 4 of the jig 3 to give the final processing on the cylinder bores 2.
