Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the amount of chemicals used for generating SO2 gas, by reusing sealing liquid by connecting an inlet port and an outlet port for the sealing liquid of a pump via a circulating passage, and reducing the difference of the density of SO2 gas in the sealing liquid in feeding SO2 gas under pressure by the sealing liquid. CONSTITUTION:Waste liquid after use in Nash Hytor pumps 1 is carried back to a circulating tank 15 via a return passage 16, and sealing liquid in the tank 15 is in turn carried to a head tank 10 by means of pumps 17. Sealing liquid cooled in the head tank 10 is delivered again to the Nash Hytor pumps 1 via a supply passage 7. That is, in feeding SO2 gas under pressure by sealing liquid, part of SO2 gas is absorbed in the sealing liquid, and the sealing liquid is reused while causing the following chemical reaction, SO2+H2O=H2SO3 (diluted sulfuric acid). Since, by employing such an arrangement, the difference of the density of SO2 gas in the sealing liquid at the inlet port and the outlet port of the sealing liquid is reduced extremely, the amount of chemicals such as H2SO4 used for generating SO2 gas can be reduced considerably.
