Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a mechanically strong enamel radiator excellent in the quick-heating and far-infrared radiation characteristics, by incorporating zirconium crystals in powder form into an enameled body so that a radiator having an enamel layer is formed.
CONSTITUTION: An enamel layer is formed on the outer surfaces of a heat radiator such as an iron pipe, stainless pipe or the like of a far-infrared radiating apparatus. This enamel layer is formed in such a manner that a slitted composition is ground in a wet manner into a slip, a blend containing zirconium crystals in an amount of 30pts.wt. or more to 100pts.wt. of the frit in the slip is added into the slip and is milled, and then this slip is glazed and calcined. In this calcination step, part of the zirconium crystals is dispersed as ZrO3 and SiO2 into the enamel layer, where it remains as a zirconium crystalline phase.
