Abstract
PURPOSE:To protect a transistor securely at the time of passing a large surge current, by providing a clamping means which detects a power source voltage and restrics the maximum current supplied to the base of an oscillating transistor when the level of the power source voltage reaches or exceeds a set point. CONSTITUTION:In the igniter, a rise in the potential at a point a makes a transistor Q1 conductive, whereby a resonance circuit including a primary winding N1 of a booster transformer 6 is caused to resonate, resulting in an oscillating action. The oscillation output is boosted by a secondary winding N2, and a spark is generated by impressing a high voltage between spark electrodes 7. The igniter is provded with a clamping circuit 8 which includes resistances R5, R6 constituting a voltage-dividing circuit for generating at a point b a voltage proportional to the voltage between lines 4, 5, and the potential at the point a is lowered by making a transitor Q2 conductive when the voltage at the point b reaches or exceeds a set voltage which is determined by the Zener voltage of a Zener diode D3.
