Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent optical fibers from mode variation even if a by-pass level is changed by combining a prismlike reflector cut at an angle against ridgelines formed by 2 intersecting sides with 3 intersecting optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:An intersection point (c) made by ridgelines formed by 2 intersecting sides 8a, 8b of a prismlike reflector 8 and a surface cut at an angle theta is located on an optical axises of optical fibers 1, 2, 3. Light projected from the optical fiber 2 is made to parallel beams 9 through a lens 5, a part of the parallel beams is reflected by the reflecting film surface 8a of the prismlike reflector 8 and coupled and transmitted to the optical fiber 1 through a lens 4 and the nonreflected light is coupled with the optical fiber 3 through a lens 6. In the same manner, light projected from the optical fiber 3 is coupled and transmitted to the optical fibers 1 and 2. The light coupling rate can be adjusted to the optimum value by changing the angle theta of the prismlike reflector 8.
