PURPOSE:To prevent inconveniences when an electric power source consumes by holding a release holding member by means of a holding member when a driving member is brought to the operation start position of an automatic focus detector by the operation of an electromagnetic device upon turning on of a release switch. CONSTITUTION:An electric power source switch 50 is turned on by the 1st step of pushing-in of a release operating member 67, by which an automatic focus detecting circuit is turned on. A release switch 51 is turned on by the next stage of the pushing-in, by which electric power is supplied to a coil 2. A control lever 5 is turned by this to disengage a driving plate 7. By the rightward movement of the driving plate, an unlocking member 43 is moved and a locking member 41 blocks the return of the release operating member. When the movement of the driving plate is stopped by the engagement of a notched part 5b and a detaining part 7b, an AF control plate 22 is begun to be moved by the turning by the projecting part 7c of a clamping lever 19, whereby the automatic focus detecting operation is accomplished.
