Abstract

PURPOSE:To shortcircuit the slit width of a pulse train by detecting that the ON-pulse width becomes longer than the prescribed value to shortcircuit the ON- pulse at the time of switching a pulse mode. CONSTITUTION:A sinusoidal modulation wave is compared by a triangular carrier as indicated in Figure A, thereby obtainig modulated pulse trains as indicated in Figures B and C. The pulse width of a modulated pulse train is varied by controlling the modulation factor alphaN of the ratio of the pulse trains in Figures B and C, the pulse mode is altered by switching the number of pulses in one cycle, thereby producing an output voltage of variable voltage and variable frequency from a DC voltage. When the fact that the modulation factor alphaN reaches the maximum modulation factor alphamax is detected, the pulse mode is switched to other pulse mode. When the fact that the ON-pulse width T0 of the modulated pulse train width becomes longer than the prescribed value is detected, the ON-pulse is shortcircuited, thereby shortcircuiting the slit width of the modulated pulse train. In this manner, the magnitude of the variation in the step of the modulation factor is reduced, thereby performing a smooth control.
