Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a homogeneous cellulose acetate resin free from agglomerate, by dry-blending a plasticizer to cellulose acetate keeping the jacket temperature and the rate of addition of the plasticizer at specific levels.
CONSTITUTION: A cellulose acetate (preferably 8W100 mesh powder having acetylation degree of 52.0W57.0%) is mixed with a plasticizer (e.g. dimethyl phthalate) in a mixer such as a ribbon blender, etc., keeping the rate of addition of the plasticizer to 1.6×10-3W4.0×10-3l/min/kg and the jacket temperature of the blender to 85W100°C to obtain the objective cellulose acetate resin.
