Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the noise of running belts by making both edges of a canvas layer embedded in the compression section of each V belt bend and expose along the circumference of the side of the belt, thus increasing the surface area of a fiber layer exposed to the side of the belt. CONSTITUTION:Compression section 4 comprising trapezoidal-section V-belts are arranged side by side beneath and integral with a rubber layer 3 bonded on upper and lower surfaces and having low-elongation and high-strength ropes 1 embedded therein. This compression section consists of a rubber layer in which short fibers 5 are embedded laterally oriented in wavy form. A plurality of layers of twill canvas cloth 6 in which both warp and weft threads are made of cotton and various synthetic fibers blended together are embedded alternately with rubber layers 4' underneath the compression section. Both ends of the canvas layer are made to bend and expose as much as a definite height H along the circumference of the side of the belt. This results in the increased exposed surface area of the fiber layer to the sideof the belt, thus so much reducing the noise of the running belt.
