Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A substituted phenyl thionocarbamate of formulaI(X is O, S or vinylene group; and m are an integer 1W4, the number of members in the heterocyclic ring formed from the nitrogen atom, two alkylene chains and X is 5W 7; two alkylene chains may be branched; R1 is H or lower alkyl; R2 and R3 are H, lower alkyl or phenyl).
EXAMPLE: O-[ 4-Chloro-3-{( 2,2-dichlorocyclopropyl )methoxy}phenyl ]1-pyrrolidinecarbothioate.
USE: A herbicide having improved controlling effect on broad-leaved weeds, and annual weeds of the families Gramineae and Cyperaceae without the phytotoxicity useful crops, e.g. rice plants.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II is reacted with a thiophosgene in the presence of a base, and the resultant compound of formula III is reacted with a compound of formula IV in the presence of a base to afford the compound of formulaI.
