Abstract

PURPOSE: To attach an electrode without adversely affecting the other already attached electrode when the electrode is to be attached to an electrically conductive rib of a unit electrolysis cell, by spot-welding the electrode with both the welding electrodes arranged from the same direction to the first-mentioned electrorde.
CONSTITUTION: To attach the electrode 2 to the electrically conductive rib 5 of the unit electrolytic cell 1, both the welding electrodes 3, 4 are arranged on the electrode 2 as shown. Alternatively, when the cell 1 is itself is electrically conductive, one of the welding electrode is positioned on the cell 1 itself, and the other is positioned on the electrode 2. Especially the former mode is preferred because the electrode can be effectively attached. Further alternatively, both the welding electrodes may be arranged on the same rib 5. In this case, the welding can be effected with less electric current, and deterioration of the electrode matrix or occurrence of welding strain due to the welding heat can be effectively prevented.
