Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the corrosion prevention effect of a corrosion inhibitor, by incorporating H2MoO4 or H2WO4 or a salt thereof, an aliphatic hydroxycarboxylic acid or its salt, a heavy metal ion releasing compound and a water- soluble polymer.
CONSTITUTION: The present corrosion inhibitor contains, as active ingredients, (A) one or more compounds selected from H2MoD4 and its alkali salt, H2WO4 and its alkali salt and alkali salts of nitrous acid, (B) an aliphatic hydroxycarboxylic acid or its alkali salt, (C) a compound capable of releasing heavy metal ions and (D) a polymer or copolymer of an olefinic compound that has a molecular weight of about 500W100,000 and is water-soluble. This inhibitor inhibits pitting, exhibits a remarkable corrosion preventive effect, and reduce singnificantly the amount of scale deposition.
