Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a cathode-ray tube of a magnetic focusing type, wherein the cathode-ray tube provides excellent focusing characteristics and makes focus- adjusting possible. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic adjuster which is at least partially cylindrical, made of ferromagnetic material and composed of a plurality of magnetic field rectifying elements, is provided within a neck 30, the adjuster being located oppositely to a permanent magnet 31 arranged outside the neck 30 of a cathode-ray tube. The magnetic adjsuter comprises first, second and third magnetic field rectifying elements 32, 33 and 34; the magnetic field intensity becomes maximum between the first and second magnetic field rectifying elements 32 and 33, whereas two of the focusing lenses are formed in the peak position of both the magnetic fields equivalently. As the permanent magnet 31 moves, the magnetic field distribution changes; the magnetic field peak becomes greater as the center of the permanent magnet 31 approaches, whereas the peak is in turn reduced as the magnet 31 departs. Accordingly, the distance from the target can be made equivalently larger or smaller and thus focus-adjusting becomes possible.
