Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive to accelerate a downward movement of a needle valve and prevent a fuel injection at a low pressure from occurring in a final period of the fuel injection, by a method wherein the upward movement of the needle valve can be carried out by superposing a jet oil pressure on the force of a spring which forces the needle valve in the direction for closing. CONSTITUTION:The fuel injection valve is opened by lifting the needle valve 4 against the spring 7 by the pressure of the fuel which is supplied through an oil passage 10 to be contained in an oil reservoir 6f provided in a nozzle body 1, and the fuel is jetted through a nozzle 6g at a high pressure. In the nozzle body 1, a space part 6d is provided in the periphery of a small-diameter part 4d formed between sliding parts of the valve 4. A sleeve piston 8 having a pressure- receiving surface 8a provided at its lower end to be supplied with the fuel simultaneously with the feeding of the fuel to the needle valve 4 throug a branch passage 10c is contained in the space part 6d. The piston 8 is provided with an oil-passing hole 8b for accelerating the downward movement of the needle valve 4 by communicating the space part 8c to the oil reservoir 6f when the piston 8 is moved downwards after moving upwards.
