Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to operate an engine in a stabilized conditon for a prolonged period of time by a method wherein in the titled device in which the sectional area of opening of an air passage is varied by a pair of measuring sections coupled to a proportional control valve, a variable flow rate control valve is provided in a passage bypassing the pair of measuring sections. CONSTITUTION:The idle rotation control device 1 is arranged in the bypass passage 4 having pipes 15 and 16 bypassing the throttle valve in the air intake pipe. The device 1 is provided with the pair of measuring sections 9 and 10 attached integrally to the output shaft of the proportional control valve V having such a characteristic that the variation of the position of the output shaft of the valve V is proportional to an electric current supplied to the valve. In this case, the bypass passage 11A bypassing the measuring sections 9 and 10 is provided in the body of the device 1 and the variable flow rate control valve 12A is provided in the passage 11A. With the above structure, even when a combustion gas flows backward due to a backfire phenomenon or the like, the adhesion of carbon particles contains in the combustion gas to the inner wall of the passage 11A is prevented and the secular variation of the number of idle rotations of the engine is also prevented.
