Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the air fuel ratio of an internal combustion engine appropriate in its idling, deceleration or the like, by providing the intake passage of the engine with a bypass equipped with a control valve and by regulating the degree of opening of the control valve depending on that of a throttle valve.
CONSTITUTION: The intake passage 11 of the internal combustion engine 10 is provided with a flow meter 26, the throttle valve 12 and the bypass 13, which is equipped with the control valve 14 and extends between the upstream and downstream sides of the throttle valve 12. The control valve 14 is connected to an actuator 15, which is regulated by a control circuit 17. Signals are applied from a throttle valve opening degree sensor 19, a water temperature sensor 21 and a speed sensor 24 for a distributor 23 to the control circuit 17. The range of variation in the degree of opening of the control valve 14 is changed by the signal from the throttle valve opening degree sensor 19 depending on the degree of opening of the throttle valve 12 to alter the quantity of air flowing through the bypass 13 in the idling, deceleration or the like of the engine.
