Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain maximum stirring effect in terms of quality with minimum power consumption, by moving an eletromagnetic stirring device to the best position according to operation conditions, casting piece side, the kind of steel, etc. CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic stirring device 9 of lower part-moving type is arranged movably along a guide roll 4 at a suitable position between an electrode- stirring device 8 of upper part-fixed type and a correction roll 5. The electromagnetic stirring device 9 of lower part-moving type has a pair of supporting members supported freely slidably by a pair of guide bars 11, 11 protruded respectively on a pair of fixed mounts 10, 10, and is arranged freely movably along the travelling path of an ingot 7. Accordingly the fine structure of the ingot 7 is made and its central part is prevented from segregation. Therefore the products of excellent quality are continuously cast with minimum power consumption.
