Abstract

For preventing this phenomenon and reacting the Mg with water continuously, a powder or granular material of a metal, e.g. Cd, Cu, W or Pt, except Fe, Cr, Mn, Zn, Ni and oxides thereof or a nonmetallic electrically condutive substance, e.g. ferrous chloride, cupric oxide, zinc acetate, or graphite, is dispersed in Mg and contained therein. These substance as a secondary battery constitute a local cell to activate the surface of the Mg, continue the reaction with water and generate the hydrogen without interruption.
