CONSTITUTION:A heat generating temperature switching means 21 is connected to a heat generating temperature control circuit 20 of a thermal printer to adjust the heat generating temperature of a resistance element 19 to optimum temperature for a thermal recording system selected. In the heat transfer recording, a cassette 5 of a heat transfer ribbon 5a is mounted on a carriage and the heat generating temperature of a thermal head 11 is adjusted to a lower level than for a color developing system using a thermal paper.
