Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the supply amount of compressed air to certainly release cake adhered on a filter cloth and to maintain a filtering capacity over a long period of time by dividing the total area of a filtering surface into locally expansible and deformable filter sections.
CONSTITUTION: When service water sludge is charged into a sludge chamber 2 and a drairn valve 15 is opened, water is filtered into a filter chamber between a support plate 9 and filter clothes 10, 11 through the filter clothes 10, 11 and the filtrate from each filter cloth sections AWD is lowered downwardly and discharged from a drain pipe 14. When cake is adhered on the filter clothes to lower filtering capacity and the drain valve 15 is closed to supply compressed air into the filter chamber through an air supply pipe 16, compressed air is introduced into filter cloth sections AWD to locally expand and deform the same outwardly every at each sections and, because the adhered cake 20 can not be accompanied to said local deformation, said cake is released from the surface of the filter cloth and crushed and fallen by compressed air injected from the mesh of the filter cloth.
