Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain hydrocarbons rich in aromatic hydrocarbons, etc., having the boiling point in the range of that of gasoline, in high yield stably, by bringing a lower aliphatic oxygen compound into contact with a catalyst obtained by dispersing uniformly crystalline zeolite into a specific metal oxide.
CONSTITUTION: The desired hydrocarbons are obtained by bringing a lower aliphatic oxygen compound (e.g., methanol, dimethyl ether, etc.) into contact with a catalyst obtained by dispersing uniformly (A) crystalline zeolite (preferably ZAM-5 type zeolite having uniform pore diameters of 5W9°CA) having a molar ratio of silica to metal oxide of ≥10 into (B) oxides of metals of Al, Ti, cerium, lanthanum, and/or Fe, usually in a static bed. Preferably the components A and B are made into powder with ≤100 mesh, blended fully, and molded.
EFFECT: The catalyst has a long life and high activity.
