Abstract

PURPOSE:To use a magnetic tape interchangeably, by correcting a difference of the frequency characteristics in case of recording and reproducing a signal, which is caused by a difference, etc. of thickness of a magnetic layer of the agnetic tape, by mixing and adding each signal to be recorded, and after that, switching the characteristics of a recording equalizer and the gain of a recording circuit. CONSTITUTION:A video signal from a video signal input terminal 10 is applied to an adder 4 through a low-pass filter 11, an FM modulator 12, a high-pass filter 13 and a sound signal carrier frequency removing circuit 14. A color signal is also applied to the adder 4 through a band-pass filter 21, a frequency converter 22, a low-pass filter 23 and a sound signal carrier frequency removing circuit 24. On the other hand, a sound signal is also applied to the adder through a terminal 30, an FM modulator 31, and a low-pass filter 32. The signal added and mixed by the adder 4 is inputted to the first recording equalizer 100, and corrects the frequency characteristics of a recording signal. A terminal 131 and a terminal 141 are conduction-controlled when a vapor-deposited tape is used, and when an oxide tape and a metallic tape are used, respectively, and a difference between the frequency characteristics of the vapor-deposited tape and that of other 2 kinds of tapes is corrected by the second recording equalizer 100.
