Abstract

PURPOSE:To reinforce joints in a short time, by providing an electric resistance heater and a thermally molten adhesive molten by heating at the inside of a reinforcing member. CONSTITUTION:The construction is made by a main body formed with a pair of deep grooves 1 containing a plastic sheath of an optical fiber and a shallow groove containng a fiber core of molten joint, and a cover plate 4 which can be fitted to the main body 3 freely rotatably so that the deep grooves 1 and the shallow groove 2 can be covered. A reinforcing member has the construction that, for example, an electric resistance heater 5 made of nichrom alloy is stuck to the inside of the main body 3 made of resin or ceramic and a thermally molten adhesive 6 is coated on it, and the deep grooves 1 are provided with a projection preventing the flowing of the adhesive 6 to the outside of the reinforcing member and a position opposing to the shallow groove 2 is provided with a projection 8 fixing an optical fiber joint.
