Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the workability of adhesive coating without impairing the characteristics of the connecting part by using the alpha-cyanoacrylate base imparted with thixotropic properties as the adhesive agent for the reinforcing device of the optical fiber ocnnecting part. CONSTITUTION:The optical fibers 2 having been fusion-connected are placed in an open protecting pipe 6 and the alpha-cyanoacrylate-base high-viscosity adhesive agent imparted with thixotropic properties is coated evenly, thence a keep cover 8 is bent and is put on, whereby these are bonded. Setting is completed in 2-4min. In terms of workability and the shelf-life of the adhesive agents, those containing SiO2 powder 5% are suited with all of various alpha-cyanoacrylate bases. These obviate the impairment of the characteristics of the connecting part and enable the improvement in the workability of the adhesive coating agent.
