Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce NOx by a method wherein fossil fuel is burnt in excessive air to form main combustion, coal gas is added to a high temperature zone at the down-stream of the main combustion and the air is supplied to the further downstream. CONSTITUTION:In driving a boiler 10, first, coal and air are sent respectively from line 2 and line 3 to a gasifying furnace 1 to gasify coal. About 10-30% of gas produced here is supplied from line 9 through the main furnace 13 to a high temperature part at the downstream zone of the main combustion zone 11 and the other gas is supplied similarly to the main combustion zone 11 through line 8. The air of quantity more than necessary to burn the produced gas completely is fed to the main combustion zone 11 through lines 5, 6. Then, the NOx produced at the zone 11 is reduced to N2 by high temperature vapor phase reaction by using reducing material and released from pollution. Further, unburnt gas is burnt by air supplied from line 7.
