Abstract

PURPOSE: A novel luminous substance that is composed of a crystalline rere metal- containing organocarboxylic acid complex salt resulting from the reaction between rare metal elements, a specific metallic element and a specific organocarboxylate ion, thus greatly lowering the production cost and showing high luminescent efficiency.
CONSTITUTION: A crystalline rare earth element-containing organocarboxylate complex salt that is obtained by the reaction between a rare earth element such as cerium, a metallic element such as calcium or strontium and an organic carboxylate anion composed of a carboxyl group and an organic group bearing at least three conjugate group that can conjugate with the carboxyl group wherein the molar ratio of the complex alt, x, is in 0.04≤x<1, which is defined as the rare element/(the rare element + the metallic metal). The complex salt preferably satisfies the formula [x is in 0.04≤x<1; A is preferably aliphatic hydrocarbon; l is 1,2,3; m= 1/l[(3-a)x+a] (where 3 is the valency of L, a is the valency of M); L is preferably europium, terbium; M is preferably calcium or strontium].
