Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform sound welding by reducing the spacing between an upper electrode roll and its bearing and oscillating forward guiding parts with an elastic mechanism thereby bringing the upper and lower electrode rolls into tight contact with each other and feeding the superposed part of a hollow cylindrical body between both rolls in a stable state. CONSTITUTION:When the superposed parts B of a hollow cylindrical body A is inserted between upper and lower electrode rolls 21 and 22, a lower electrode roll 22 is forced upward against the pressing force of the spring 72 of a pressing part 37. More specifically, a supporting arm 23 and a supporting plate 27 turn clockwise around an oscillating fulcrum point 36. On the other hand, pressing force is acted upon a supporting plate 27 by the spring 72, by which the part B passing between the roll 21 and the roll 22 is pressurized. After the passage of the part B, the roll 22 is moved upward to be pressed to the roll 21. By this mechanism, an electric resistance welding machine is reduced of a size and the hollow cylindrical body having no parts of insufficient strength is manufactured.
