Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a paper feeder capable of opening and closing automatically a press roller for paper by using a relatively simple construction, by a method wherein the press roller is separated from a platen through an arm when the platen is rotated in a direction opposite to the paper feed direction.
CONSTITUTION: The press roller 1 for paper is rotatable fitted on a shaft 5 fixed to a pair of arms 3, 4 and it is pressure contacted to the platen 2 by the tension of springs 10, 10'. A projecting part 3a of the arm 3 is enabled to be contacted to and separated from the outside peripheral surface of a cam 14. The platen 2 is rotated in the direction of arrow B (opposite to the paper feed diredtion A) to bring the projecting part 3a into contact with a cam surface 14c of the cam 14, then the arm 3 is displaced with a shaft 7 as a fulcrum and the roller 1 is separated from the platen 2. Then, the platen 2 is rotated in the direction of the arrow A so that the paper P is fed between the platen 2 and the roller 1 by the platen 2 and a pinch roller 20.
