Abstract

PURPOSE: To dry materials to be dried with less energy by increasing the temp. and pressure of the steam evaporated from said materials by using a compressor and utilizing the condensation heat thereof as a heating source.
CONSTITUTION: Materials 6 to be dried are forced by a liquid feed pump 5 through a heat exchanger 13 and a preheater 14 into a spray nozzle 15, from which they re sprayed in the form of mists and are stuck onto the outside surface of a double-ply-piped heating drum 11. The steam of high temp. and high pressure compressed by a compressor 12 is fed to the outside annular side of the drum 11, by which the materials 6 stuck to the outside surface of the drum 11 are heated and dried. The steam used for heating the materials 6 condenses and is reduced of pressure down to the atmospheric pressure by a pressure reducing device 17, after which it flows through the heat exchanger 13 where it heats the materials 6, after which it is discharged as separated liquid 22 to the outside of the system. As a result, the effects of requiring less energy for the drying treatment, reducing energy cost considerably, etc. are obtained.
