Abstract

PURPOSE: To well dry the sludge charged into a drying chamber in a less number of treating days by force-feeding high-pressure air to the sludge to make it into porous shape and providing a means of drying the same by the utilization of the solar heat absorbed by a roof body.
CONSTITUTION: A roof body 27, painted black, is moved onto top of an upper block 6 of the drying basin. The water content of the sludge fed into a drying chamber 14 passes through a filter 11 and enters a water collecting chamber 15, from where it returns into the discharge basin through a water collecting head 7. When the sludge is concentrated, high-pressure air is fed from the water collecting chamber 16 to the sludge to let it expand to porous form. The hot air sucked through the air heating pipes 31 of the roof body 27 heated by solar heat is moved upward in the porous clearances of the sludge from the water collecting chamber 15 to let the water contact therein evaporate. When the heat exchanger pipes 32 suspended to the roof body 27 are heated, this transfers to the heat exchanger plate 34 in contact with the sludge to assist the moisture evaporation of the sludge. Upon completion of the drying, the roof body 27 is moved to the next drying basin.
