Abstract

PURPOSE:To cope with also a process which needs a steam sterilization in high temp. and pressure, by providing a changing device at the both ends of a porous tube having liquid repellency and continuous fine pores, and flowing by changing carrier gas and pressure applying gas at the time of measurement and sterilization. CONSTITUTION:A tetrafluoroethylene resin porous tube 1 having liquid repellency and continuous fine pores is provided in a microbial culture solution 3. A vessel 2 is held at 120 deg.C temp. and 1kg/cm<2> pressure for five hours and sterilized before measurement. A pressurizing gas is passed through the tube 1 so as to reach 1.2kg/cm<2> pressure and 1.5l/min. flow rate from a pressure applying gas supply part 13 during sterilizing. Whilst, carrier gas is continuously supplied to a component detector 10 through a by-pass changeover device 11 and a by- pass line 12. After sterilization, carrier gas changing devices 5, 8 and 11 are changed to supply the carrier gas to the tube 1, and ethanol which permeates through a liquid is detected by the detector 10 and the density is measured.
