Abstract
PURPOSE:To heighten the horsepower efficiency and combustion efficiency, by providing the wrist pin of a piston with an ununiform-thickness pipe cam consisting of an inner and an outer cams and having a prescribed eccentricity angle, to reduce the descending speed of the piston as to the motion of the crank. CONSTITUTION:An inner cam 2 is secured on the wrist pin 5 of the piston 4 of an internal combustion engine. An outer cam 1 is secured on the small end 7 of a connecting rod 6. The inner cam 2 is rotatably supported in a position eccentric to the outer cam 1. The eccentricity angle alpha of the inner cam 2 is defined in such a direction that the connecting rod 6 swings depending on the expansion of the engine. For that reason, the eccentricity angle alpha is set as -thetam/ 2<alpha<180-thetam/2 where thetam denotes the maximum swing angle of the connecting rod 6. As a result, the descending speed of the piston 4 is reduced in relation to the revolution of the crank 10 to prevent the sharp fall in the pressure on the top of the piston to give it a higher impulse.
