Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a transfer sheet having a specific polymer film formed on one side of porous paper impregnated with heat-fusible ink and being capable of repeated thermal transfer. CONSTITUTION:On one side of porous paper (e.g.: manila hemp paper) impregnated with heat-fusible ink that contains as main ingredients wax (e.g.: carnauba wax), a coloring agent (e.g.: carbon black) and a softening agent (e.g.: oleicf acid), a mixture of fine powder of melting point above 250 deg.C (e.g.: clay) and a polymer having a melting point higher than that of the ink (e.g.: polyvinylbutyral resin) is applied to form a film. In the recording on this thermal transfer sheet a piece of ordinary paper is placed on the side of the porous paper and it is pressed and heated from the film side with a thermal head to fuse the ink and ooze out the ink from the porous paper to effect transfer on the ordinary paper. With this arrangement the thermal transfer sheet does not fuse on the thermal head even if it is given large electric power and no problem in sheet traveling occurs.
