PURPOSE:To attain a stable temperature control with the consumption of small amounts of electric power by providing a thermally connected heat-transmitting means to a base plate having a heating resistor element row. CONSTITUTION:The heat transmitting means 8 of a thermal recording head 1 contains a solid, liquid, or gaseous medium having good thermal conductivity or a great heat capacity. The medium is thermally strongly connected with the lower side of the ceramic base plate 2. Also, a pipe 9 is provided to the side of the heat transmitting means 8, and the other end of the pipe 9 is joined with an external element, e.g., the cooling body of power source, etc. The pipe 9 made of a heat-insulating material is filled with a medium having good heat conductivity, as in the heat transmitting means 8. Since the heat transmitting means 8 is made of a material having a large heat capacity, it can keep the thermal reocrding head 1 at a fixed temperature. Also, control on the temperature of the head 1 can be made by using excess heat generated necessarily in a heat sensitive recording. Thus, the amount of power necessary for the heat- sensitive recording can be reduced.
