Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of the operating properties of an engine when the temperature thereof is cool by a method wherein three kinds of patterns suitable for respective conditions of the engine when it is cool in its temperature, it is under warm-up and the warm-up thereof is finished, in case a gear type speed changing mechanism and a direct coupling clutch are controlled based on various kinds of input signals. CONSTITUTION:A computer 100, for controlling the automatic speed changer based on the signals of respective sensers 1-8, controls the solenoids 11, 12 of the gear type speed changing mechanism and the solenoid 13 of the direct coupling clutch. When D range is selected, the water temperature of the engine is decided whether it is lower than a predetermined first temperature T1, whether it is between T1 and a second temperature T2, higher than T1, or whether it is higher than T2. AS the result of these decisions, the speed changing pattern which is suitable for respective water temperature of the engine may be selected.
