Abstract
PURPOSE: The reaction between isoprene and an N-chloro compound, less dangerous, is conducted in the presence of a carboxylic acid to produce the titled compound used as a polyprenyl alcohol perfume or synthetic intermediate of drugs and medicines such as vitamin K2 or E with ease.
CONSTITUTION: In the presence of a carboxylic acid of RCOOH (R is lower alkyl, aralkyl, phenyl), isoprene is made to react with a chlorinating reagent to give the objective compound. As the chlorinating reagent, is used an N-chloro compound such as N-chlorosuccinimide, trichloroisocyanuric acid or N-chloroacetamide and the molar ratio of the carboxylic acid and the chlorinating reagent is 5/1W9/1 and the amount of isoprene is more than 1.2 equivalent per 1.0 equivalent of the chlorinating reagent.
