Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the deformation of a lining material together with a back plate, and to apply braking pressure onto a sliding surface of the pad uniformly by a method wherein a special material having particular directional property is used as the back plate, and formed integrally together with the lining material.
CONSTITUTION: The back plate 11 is manufactured in such a manner that a large number of fibers 12, which have the heat-resisting property of 300°C or higher and the high modulus of elasticity (approximately 100,000kg/mm2 or higher), are arranged in parallel and bundled, and resin 13 is impregnated among the clearances. The direction that the fibers 12 are mainly oriented and arranged is parallel with the frictional direction of the pad. Accordingly, the back plate 11 has the high modulus of elasticity in the direction parallel with the frictional direction of the pad. The back plate and the lining material are formed integrally by stacking the lining material on the back plate 11 and thermally forming both.
