Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease floor space occupied by a cell unit by arranging on a plane a plurality of multicells in contact with only their ridgeline parts and by installing manifolds for supplying and exhausting gas in spaces formed by the sides of mulicells. CONSTITUTION:Multicells 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d which are accommodated in a pressure container 9 are arranged in parallel on a plane in contact with only their ridgeline parts instead of their sides. Each manifold 61a, 61b, 61c, 61d for fuel is installed in the outer side of each multicell respectively, and a fuel room 62a is formed by each sealing member 13 mounted between the ridgeline parts of the inner side of each multicell. Each manifold 71a, 72a, 71b, 72b for oxidant is installed in a space which is formed by two sides of each multicell in contact with its ridgeline parts. Manifolds 71a and 71b are for supply and manifolds 72a and 72b are for exhaust.
