Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the charged condition and capacity of a battery with a simple operation, by adding a parallel circuit of a diode having the same polarity as that discharged from a combined battery and a switch to the combined battery in series. CONSTITUTION:When the electromotive force of a combined battery 3 is measured, a switch 6 is opened and an artificial load 7 is removed from the battery. Since the combined battery 3 is set to a opened condition under this condition because the charging current is blocked by a diode 5 and the battery 3 is isolated from a rectifier 2, the electromotive force of the battery 3 can be measured. When the capacity of the battery 3 is measured, the switch 6 is opened and the artificial load 7 is connected to the battery 3. In this way, the charging current to the battery 3 is blocked by the diode 5, and therefore, the battery 3 connected with the artificial load 7 discharges. Thus the capacity can be measured. Moreover, an electric power will be supplied to a load 4 through the diode 5 even when the supply of the commercial AC power 1 is stopped during the course of measurement, and thus the electric power to the load 4 will never be stopped.
