Abstract

PURPOSE: To extract uranium efficiently by controlling the pH on a stripping line side in a specific range and stripping uranium from org. solvents contg. uranium by using an aq. ammonium sulfate soln. as stripping liquid and using a centrifugal extractor.
CONSTITUTION: Uranium in ore is extracted by an org. solvent wherein amine type chemicals are used as an extracting agent and a solvent such as kerosene or the like is used as a diluent. This extracting liquid is introduced through an introduction port 5 to the outside circumferential side in a rotating body 1 of a centrifugal extractor under high speed revolution and an ammonium sulfate soln. which is stripping liquid is introduced to the inside circumferential side through an introduction port 7. In the body 1, the aq, ammonium sulfate soln. directs toward the outside circumferential side because its specific gravity is heavy, and the extracting liquid directs toward the inside circumferential side because its specific gravity is light; hence, both of them cause countercurrent contact and the uranium in the extracting liquid migrates to the aq, ammonium sulfate soln. The aq, ammonium sulfate soln. is discharged through a discharge line 8, but it is necessary to control the pH of this time to 2.5W5 beforehand.
